1. Find a one of your photos or digital artwork pieces you'd like to use. Do any resizing that may be necessary. This is the photo I'm going to use, set at 800x600:

1. Open a New Image (File>New) and pick a size. I used 500 x 500 in the original image.
2. Set your foreground colour to black and your background colour to white:
Now just follow the picture instructions:
1. Make a new image. I'm using 300 x 300 pixels, transparent background.
2. Use the Paint Bucket and fill the image with black.
3. Go to Filter>>Noise>>Add Noise. Set the options for a blur between 14 and 18% distribution, select Gaussian and Monochromatic.
1. Create a new image canvas for the size of background you want to make. Set your DPI to 72, 8 bit.
2. Choose a dark foreground colour and lighter gray-toned background colour. Select the Gradient Tool, click on the gradient to edit it and select Foreground to Background as the setting.
